Cabbage & Cucumber Singaround Enfield

As I wrote a few weeks back, I am trying to set up a singaround in Enfield Middlesex (UK). I have arranged a place and and date:

The Ponders End Smallholders Club (Cabbage Patch to locals)
82 Church Road, Falcons Field
Ponders End
ENFIELD
Middlesex

Date: 4th July 2006
Time 8:00pm

It would be great to see as many people as possible. If the evening goes ok, a monthly session has been approved by the club's committee.

Regards

Peter C

Sorry, can't make it this time, it clashes with St Albans Folk Week which I'm already committed to. Next time I hope.

Due to the other folk events happening locally, the World Cup and people taking holidays, the evening of the 4th July has been cancelled as it was felt that it would end up being rather bereft of people.   The new date is now the 17th July same time and place. Please try and come if you can as this is a new venture for a Folk music starved borough (Enfield). Myself and a couple of friends really want to try and rectify this.

Thanks

I'm afraid Enfield is a bit too far away to make it viable, but good luck with it... I'm intrigued by the thought of brassicas and salad vegetables having a singaround... what would they sing?

I just assumed the 'Cabbage and Cucumber' was a trendy new pub name.
Maybe they'd sing 'Strawberry Fields for Ever', or 'Oats and Beans and Barley Grow', or 'Rhubarbara Allen'.

I have been wondering what kind of a dance the vegetables would choose - a Swede-ish Masquerade, perhaps?

Just hoping a few will come along and give their support. This is a new thing for me. The club has many nicknames (I like to call it the marrow club). I think it's only one of two such clubs in the UK that has a clubhouse attached to the allotments. Chris Tarrent did a documentary on it some years ago (I have the video somewhere) and good or bad Chas and Dave wrote a song about it. It's cheap, cheerful and clean. Everyone welcome
