Some one on The Mudcat provided me with the lyrics to "She's a gone girl," I heard Jack Clements sing it on an Irish Special. But try as I may I can't find the right chords. I believe the song may have been written by Johnny Cash.. Can someone help?? Thanks. Z.

Today there are about 4 threads with titles like "lyrics requested", but with no hint of which song the person is seeking until we actually open the thread. time-consuming...please try to give threads more specific names.
Do not post any more messages in this thread. First, search for your song in our database and forum. If you can't find your song, start a new thread with a specific title, and we'll do our best to find the song for you.

I'm try to find the name and Artist who sang this song on a radio station I heard a while ago. The radio station couldn't help...any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanx

If today was not a crooked highway
If tonight I could finally stand tall
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time
Then lonesome would mean nothing to me at all

CHORUS: Well only if my own true love was waiting
And I could hear her heart softly pounding
Only if she were lying by me
I'd lie in my bed ounce again.

I can't see my reflection in the water
Can't speak words that know no pain
Can't hear the echoes of my footsteps
And I don't remember the sound of my own name. CHORUS

There's beauty in the silver singing river
There's beauty in the sunlight in the sky
But loneliness and nothing else can match the beauty
That I remember in my true loves eyes. CHORUS

I am not responsible for the red warning Someone, and I think I know who, added it to my message (which is only the bit in black). I do resent that because it makes the tone of the message nastier than I intended. And I wouldn't be quite so authoritarian or presumptuous as to make an ORDER that no more postings should be added.
Anyway the redprint didn't work; What does it take to make people "listen" to messages?

Eric,

If it's not Bob Dylan's 'Tomorrow Is A Long Time', it's very close. I'm surprised that you could get that close to the Lyrics without knowing the title and artist. I'm more surprised that the radio staion couldn't help you.

I hope this helps.

Steve

It's been a long time since I've actively rebelled authority but......didn't Judy Collins record this in the sixties?

Phillipa I've always found smacking them round the gob while shaking them gently by the throat with the other hand gets their attention. Probably wouldn't work for people asking for lyrics to C&W songs though.

In a loving, respectful, and politically correct way of course; so as not to appear authoritarian.
