The Stockroom Five was what happened before Clive's Original Band (COB) and after the Famous Jug Band and the Incredible String Band before it. It was Clive Palmer, Mick Bennett and John Bidwell (who became COB) and (usually) one other variable person. I don't think it ever actually had five members.

The Stockroom Five was the band Clive Palmer formed in Cornwall after he left/was asked to leave The Famous Jug band in 1969, actually before their album "Sunshine Possibilities" came out. It was Clive on banjo/fiddle, John Bidwell on banjo and guitar, Tim Wellard on guitar and "Whispering" Mick Bennett on percussion. They all sang. They played old-style country music particularly songs by Uncle Dave Macon. They only lasted until late 1969. Clive and Mick returned to London, John and Tim carried on with Demelza Val Baker (percussion)in The Novelty Band who played mainly trad folk. When Clive and Mick returned in the spring of 1970 they rejoined and the new band was called The Temple Creatures. Both Mick and Tim left after a while and Chrissie Quayle was also a member at one point. They lasted until late 1970. C.O.B.(Clive, Mick, John) started in 1971.
