Therefore the resentment that arises when someone feels threatened grows, and hate crimes happen as a consequence of this feeling of being threatened by something not properly understood. Giok |

It is a show called '30 Days', I understand, and the show that had struck her so had two parts. The first segment detailed the experience of an American who was out of work after his job was outsourced to India. The show producers (whoever that may be) sent him to India to live with an Indian family for 30 days. The daughter of the family had gotten a job like the one the American had lost- and it was feeding 16 people. In that month not only did the American learn to love the family but he also gained an appreciation for what outsourcing is doing for the world. We are in such a period of transition... I grew up in a vanilla community, except for the occasional American Indian, who was invariably given a hard time. Today there is a great intermixing of races, nationalities and cultures. I suspect that the 'white' people are beginning to realize that they are seriously outnumbered and it scares them. And frightened people are scary. |

Some are believing the crap the Media feeds us about others and their religious views and values. We are allowing segregation to prosper and we are funding and fighting Wars on false principals. We (as in our Countries) are continually disrespecting others beliefs, dismissing them as wrong simply because they are not the major belief of one particular Country and taking sides and supplying the chosen with the means to kill and we are attacking other Countries in the name of spreading Democracy with no plan as to how to make that bloom causing Civil War to ignite. Some politicians and Governments are even doing these acts by design, to gain Political power. Governments are fuelling distrust and fear among the Citizens and when you take all this and add the element of the ever present fractions of twisted violent Bigots looking for any excuse to hurt or kill anyone who's skin colour or religion differs from their own.. then you have a lose, lose situation. Hate begets Hate. We have distorted the aims of rebels fighters and insurgents fighting against the might of prosperous Nations by simply labeling them ALL Terrorists. We have waged a campaign of misinformation regarding Islam and the followers of this Faith and some have done this under the banner of Christianity while breaking a good portion of the Commandments that are the foundation of their belief system. Saddest part of all is a vast majority of people are sitting back allowing this to happen, watching it nightly unfolding before their TV eyes, but then there will always be armchair soldiers and armchair politicians who wouldn't get up off the arses to travel to another Country or speak up and really do something. Talk is cheap. Principals it would seem can be bought for a Mortgage, a 401K and a nice Car these days. Just as long as some have the supposed trappings of prosperity and pseudo democracy then..what's the problem. These same people go to Church I expect and nod in agreement when they hear Love thy Neighbor. Some go off to work and even say hello to the Person of Colour who sells them their Daily Newspaper at the corner shop everyday but they cross the street at night if a man approachs them who has a different skin colour to their own. They would tell you though they aren't racist, they even have Friends who are Black, Brown, Blue, Pink ect ect. Hate crimes are up way way more than 40%. Hate is taking over and has been for quite some time now. The real shock would come if we knew the actual figures on Hate Crimes but unfortunately due to the fear of Reprisals a vast majority of Hate Crimes go unreported. This topic breaks my heart.
