Sea Fever Festival - Shanty Project HULL 2006

HumberSound are looking for young people aged 11 to 16 to take part in the Shanty Groove Crew Project at The Deep in HULL.

This project is working in partnership with Hull City Arts, The Deep and Hull Sea Fever Festival 2006.

HumberSound will take these young people through a historic song trail which will culminate in performances in Hull City Centre,
BBC Blast which is the BBC's new multimedia truck facility,
Creative Voice stage in Queens Gardens and Hull Sea Fever Festival in the Hull Marina.

HumberSound welcome all young people between 11 and 16 to join the Shanty Groove Crew to explore maritime heritage learning songs of the past and performing them to audiences of the present.

Where: The Deep & Hull City Centre
When: Tuesday 29 August 2006 to Sunday 3 September 2006 inclusive
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Cost: £10 per person

I would like to say a big thank you to all the young members of "The Shanty Groove Crew" who gave sterling performances during the Sea Fever Festival on the Marina main stage, at The Deep, and in various hostelries on the way back to The Deep!!! Well done

I was very impressed with their performance in the 'Green Bricks', but didn't get a chance to see them elsewhere.

A lot of adrenaline must have been flowing to produce such a polished performance.

Its good to know that there will be others to continue the tradition.

Many thanks for your kind comments I will pass them on to the lads and lasses. It was amazing doing the project with them, watching them grow in confidence, developing there skills and pulling together as a team.
