I am not sure Jeff will come...
Starting to plan the van, man.

Vanwatch starts HERE!
Current status -

Tyres OK
Brakes - service needed.
Gas - all OK, might upgrade to bigger gas bottles.
Gas Fire - last years's repair still seems fine.
Water heater - wiring checked, fine.
Water - new inline electric Whale pump needed.
Fridge - to be removed and taken to Southend for a heart-lung transplant (unless anyone knows how to vent a Waeco CAS-60 for caravan use).
Shelves - useless internal cupboards removed, replaced with two large bunkbeds for guitars allowing me to bring up to 4 guitars bodhran and mandolin. Looks like shit but works.
Van "hifi" - The old stereo out of the Volvo (see below) needs fitting to the van with a sub hiding somewhere.
Bigger battery - needed to power hifi....
Stabiliser - Bulldog bought off ebay, arrival awaited
Towcar - the Skoda with the dicky clutch has been replaced with a 7 series Volvo GLT, hence the stabiliser to allow planned higher cruising speeds.
Towcar fuel tank - spare in garage awaiting fitting!

Watch this space....

Hopefully be able to make it with the band again next year - Always a great weekend and there's nowhere else like the cottage for singing.

Andy usually orders the weather specially for the Friday so will expect nothing less than blue skies and sunshine next year too.

Hello each.. thanks for the positive response so early. Actually it's early enough for suggestions for next year. Are the concert spots too short for example.( actually it's the days that are too short and the guest list that's too long!!) Following Mr Red's comment, how about an afternoon dance, outside if wet, in a tent if dry sort of thing?
Would we consider a 10 minute walk to another venue for a dance. Hang on, that wouldn't be in the Miskin spirit would it!!
Anyway I hope to get another of those lovely festival tents to pair up and make a bigger space. Hardly Chippenham, but fun....
I'm writing this with a now empty glass of rum and shrub before I set off for a night of mahem and music here on the IOW. Have fun peeps.

Andy

I like it just as it is Andy. Any more events and there would be too much choice and some things would have to be missed. Besides, we need time just to sit in the sunshine (!) and chat.

I'll be there. Moreover, it's a year when Orthodox & Catholic/CofE Easter coincide, so I am of half a mind to set up a trad Greek Easter celebration on the Sunday, with lamb roasting on a spit etc. Any interest? (And Andy, what's the take on having an open fire somewhere for it?) I have the spit, the motor to turn it and an extension; I'm sure we can find a half-drum and some coal somewhere; and there should be no problem finding a cute cuddly lamb somewhere in Wales.

Has anyone else been twisting Andy's arm to try to persuade him to try to persuade Marian Button down? The thought of her voice in the cottage just sends shivers down my spine (in a good way).

She also has the highest average body count per song of anyone I've ever heard, by a street. A cheerful song is one in which only a few people die slowly in pain and misery....

Hey George spit roasted lamb sounds great.

I was gonna suggest a story walk again but we'd miss Cats for that if she's over the water! Boo and bum!

If someone else could be persuaded that would be nice though - I'll be drinking again by then (HOORAH!) so some hot toddy type stuff on route would be good! If not a walk, p'raps a specific story round the campfire session would be groovy!

Talking of campsites, which we are now...We may have a slight problem captain.
After several happy years on the field up the road (400 yards, honest!)we will not be able to use it in future. I am of course looking around the area for somewhere else suitable so let us all live in hope. Meanwhile if anyone can recomend a supplier of folding campsites please let me know.

See you at Banbury, I'll be the one drooling over the new campsite.

Andy

(Mutter mutter...if it's not one thing it's another , and if it's not that then it will be something else, dunno why I bother, who's idea was this anyway, I'm getting old before my time, and all that old tosh.)

Hope the shortage of a site for carryvans won't cause a crush in the Bunkhouse Andy.

It's too early in the year for my old bones to be camping. Is it too early to claim a bunk?

Whoops!! I should have realised that statement would cause a rush on bunks. As per usual practice we are using last years bunks list as the priority booking and at the moment all spaces are taken.

Dont panic, the Miskin Magic will shine over us I'm sure.
