The Old, Old House
George Jones
Written by George Jones & Hal Bynum

There's an (D) old, old (D7) house
that (G) once was a (D) Mansion
On a hill overlooking the (A) town
But (D) time has left a (D7) wreckage
where (G) once there was (D) beauty
And soon the old (A) house will tumble (D) down

But when the (A) leaves start to (G) fall in (D) aut-tu-um-n
And the (A) rain starts to (G) drip from the (D) tr-e-e-s (A)
There's an (D) old, old (D7) man
who (G) walks thru the (D) garden
And his head is (A) bowed in memo-ri-(D)-ies

Steel turn around:

[D] They say he built a (D7) mansion
for the (G) love of a (D) woman
They planned to be married in the (A) fall-al-al
But her (D) love for him (D7) withered
in the (G) last days [or rays?] of (D) summer
And the house stood (A) empty after (D) all

But when the (A) leaves start to (G) fall in (D) aut-tu-um-n
And the (A) rain starts to (G) drip from the (D) tr-e-e-s (A)
There's an (D) old, old (D7) man
who (G) walks thru the (D) garden
And his head is (A) bowed in memo-ri-(D)-ies
