14 Sep 06 - 06:12 AM (#1834187) Subject: Details of Folk Clubs - Midlands From: Louisey Further to my plea for musicians earlier this week, I would be hugely grateful to receive details of local-ish Midlands folk nights where I can sing some sad songs and hunt down some musicians! I only know a few clubs, through family friends, and the internet isn't all that helpful in giving me leads. Friendly night recommendations would be preferred - I have been to a couple where if your face isn't known, you won't be asked to sing, I may be young and missing something important, but I don't really understand that... You say 'Midlands' but that is a very wide area, narrow it down a tad and you will be directed to local clubs by the friendly Catters in your area. Also, have you tried festivals? Haha, maybe I'm not experienced in session-ing, thank you for your advice. The sessions & singarounds I grew up in were of the loud, chaotic, everyone-in type! I am based in South Derbyshire, but close to areas of Staffordshire/Leicestershire/Warwickshire - I don't mind an hours drive or so. Louise |
