Subject: Bedfordshire Day of Song/Tunes - 11 Nov
From: Ross

Hi mudcatters - you are all very welcome to come along and join in

Our day of songs and tunes commencing midday to midnight on Saturday the 11th November 2006

In the Bull function room, Barton-Le-Clay, Bedfordshire, MK45

A few miles from junction 12 on the MI - halfway between Bedford and Luton on the A6

The format will be a continual circle around the room - all players, singers, listeners, dancers welcome

The Caddington Blues morris team are possible/maybe doing the mummers play

Unicorn man is desperate to set off some fireworks and we might have enough money to do a small tea

Entry is free

There is a Bull CD on sale (to help finance the day) featuring a mixture of artists who haved graced the sessions - £5 - PM Ross - two hours of music

There will be a raffle on the day for the RNLI

Best regards

Ross

I went to Redbourn Folk Club last night

It was a great evening - loads of singers & players

Some brilliant music

Then I went on

Never mind - Cathy's Don Williams impression was terif and it was followed one of her self penned classics

It will be a firework display that they will be talking about for years to come. Even more so than my other shows. Can't wait. Plus Sparklers that are very welcome, not the yukie ones that makes one's yummy ale taste yukie.

Brilliant news Unicorn Man

Can't wait

Anyone else got any more brilliant news?

What should we be doing to get more publicity?

I heard a Christmas song in a pub last night> I can't believe it!

I expressed my surprise to the landlady but she shrugged it off as one in a continuous tape of 500 songs. I didn't ask her if it was played in the summer because she looked a bit hacked off anyway.

I am going to search out my antlers ready to put on in case I am back ther in 499 songs time.

Any ideas for the day

Should we have any themes?

It's armistice day/weekend

Fancy dress?

Quote of the week

'we missed you at the session - there were some old drunks there who wanted a singalong'

Who said folk is tactful

I feel a Vera Lynn song coming on.

Even better - my chance to sing Lili Marlene - at last. There's a perfect lamplight just outside the function room door.

you put a message, ANY MESSAGE, HOWEVER SHORT, I.E. REFRESH

that's refreshing !!!!!

Are you near Bedfordshire? In folk-travel-terms that could anywhere down south I suppose.

I thought it was an order to go to the bathroom

I suppose that would be a reflush

Any Mudcatters from far flung parts coming?

I'm organising the indoor outdoor barbeque with finger buffet and periwinkle crockery

24 Oct 06 - 08:47 AM (#1867136)
Subject: RE: Bedfordshire Day of Song/Tunes - 11 Nov
From: Scrump

Fish or chocolate? (The finger buffet I mean)

Far flung parts, eh? Sounds painful.

I'd like to come along to meet a few Mudcatters but it will most likely be in the afternoon as I think I have a gig in the evening (not 100% sure though, need to check).

(Put me down for playing, singing, listening and drinking but not necessarily in that order.)

Top man Scrump. Do you support Luton Town?

24 Oct 06 - 10:33 AM (#1867255)
Subject: RE: Bedfordshire Day of Song/Tunes - 11 Nov
From: Scrump

I can't really claim to support Luton, even though I did once have a season ticket for Kenilworth Road. You'd have to be a masochist to actually support them ;-)

Why do you ask?

24 Oct 06 - 11:44 AM (#1867311)
Subject: RE: Bedfordshire Day of Song/Tunes - 11 Nov
From: Ross

Cheers Scrump - we will put you down for everthing

The format is a continual circle around the room

Only a few will last the whole 12 hours - everyone is welcome to come along and spend as much time as they want - just for a few hours is fine

Hopefully the further flung among you can come in the afternoon and still get home before all the passes are blocked

Obviously they will be 'Ross frozen food fish fingers' only made from the finest endangered Cod (Oh no - they've eaten Eric)

Don't answer the Luton question - it's a worse fate than masonry

You've put me back in Judy Garland-Mickey Rooney mode for putting on a show - there'll be lights and music and dancing. And fireworks. And a raffle.

My 'That's Entertainment' LP is so worn out I must ask Santa for a new CD version. The drunken nights singing along with friends after closing time have left their scratches.

Ross - "Dancing, some of us very badly".

Doesn't matter one iota, it's the participation that counts; you can always improve (perhaps)!

Cheers for that - it was an enjoyable evening with the morris team

We got quite a lot of youngsters up dancing from outside the pub

and plenty of the folk regulars had a go

Perhaps will pass though, on the disco roller skating

I know when to stop

Anybody got any dancing elephants - we could with something big for the finale

Hi Ross

Just sent one through the links but it didn't sem to go. Has been good here in Spain over last 7 weeks apart from one weekend of flash flood when the dry rivers ran very high. Sadly am having to come back this Saturday 21st though looking forward to getting to the Bull again - if weather allows the trip from Wootton. Have written some stuff on generally daft topics over last few weeks - Ladybirds, Steelworks and Green Dophins. Would appreciate any help to recod them on return

See you soon all the best

How can I help?
Is this any good from Joe Offer? ............

With the restoration of Mudcat over the weekend, a number of people have had problems with their Mudcat membership, particularly if they had changed their user name in the period that Mudcat was having problems (summer 2005 to this last weekend). Usually, all you need to do to fix the problem is log in again with your user name and password. If your user name has changed and you can't figure out what your user name is, use the filter to check a thread you've posted to recently. Log in with the user name listed for you on that thread, with your usual password. Once you've logged in, you can go to Membership and change any information that needs changing.

If you can't solve your login problems,
Please do not submit a new membership.

Just send me an e-mail and ask me for help. I'll be around most of the time over the next couple of days - although it may sometimes take a few hours for me to respond.

Thanks.

The Bull function room has integral toilets in the foyer. Wheelchair access.

The ladies' has a cosy first room, pleasantly furnished with sink and big big mirror. Standing room for chatting/laughing etc. None of the £4 machines they have in the ladies loos in Luton though.

I haven't been in the gents.

Hi John

What track is your mind following John? What inverted question? Maybe I shouldn't ask.

The loos in the Comfort are A OK. The mirrors have that tinge that make you look more tanned and glamourous than true life. That's all I notice 'cos I am always rushing back upstairs to hear more great music.

I am not sure about 19th November yet - it's my last baby's 18th birthday. Thank you very much for the invite.

Hope to see you tomorrow.
