BS: Beating the winter blues, Divis style.

Todays news headlines, "After months of mild weather and a record-breaking summer, winter is finally set to hit Britain on Wednesday".

Most of us dislike this time of year. Living room lights on at 5.00pm, turning on the central heating and rain blow and snow. Well decided this year to do something about it.

Just back an hour ago after touring Ireland (was I missed) ? Down the West side and up the East side. Only a 1,000cc rt BMW with built in sound system for company. It Has to have been the mildest October for years. Two visits to an internet cafe to check mail and besides a mobile phone, that was my only contact with technology. B&B's were excellent.

Now for part two. Heading over to central Europe for the month of November,(aircraft not bike) starting this week, meeting a friend first in Germany, then head to Paris, down to Nice, then on down to Spain (invited a friend over here for long weekend) and over next to Italy. Then plans afoot for Atlantic crossing early new year. So come on folks, get off the backsides and beat the winter blues. Enjoy cheap flights before the Green taxes arrive !

I'd like to do something like that DS. I need ground floor accomodation, if my wife comes with me, as she can't manage steps. would any of the b and b's you went to, be suitable?

if so, if you have a record of them, could you send me their details.

all the best

No problem Al,
Let me know what parts of Ireland you are thinking of visiting and I would be glad to help. Noticed a lot of self catering bungalows catering for such needs. Most of the B&B's had ground floor apartments.
West coast is the job, from Ben Bulben in Sligo down to Westport and onto Achill. Then down to Louisburg on road to Clifton.

Wicklow, Arklow and Greystones is nice. The Ancient church and round tower at Glendalough is lovely over on the south east.

Apparently, according to Mrs Soams at school, us girls don't sweat or perspire, they glow.

It always made me feel as if I should dress in blackout material......

We usually take our vacation in October. Best tiem of the year to do so. We in fact just got back from a weeks vacation down in Camden Maine, Salem Mass. Had a fantastic time and saw some beautiful fall countryside and shoreline.

I try not to get out in the winter .... I hate the blasted season.

I'm not one of those that likes those winter trips to some resort in the Islands.

The north of Ireland today was glorious sunshine all the way, global warming has arrived, I can never recall a finer November day, being selfish I won`t complain.

Just checking in to say hello. Germany is a beautiful country. The women here ooze class, they are so beautiful, and friendly ! Always thought that French women were beautiful but Germans have a slight edge at the moment, leaving many happy memories behind me ! So onto France and then Spain. Spending quality time in Spain with someone every special, beautiful and really great craic. I thought Germany would be more expensive, food, transport and hotels really reasonable. It gets a five star rating in every respect.

Love the South of France, but really counting the days to get to my Charlotte in Spain !

Glad you seem to be having a nice time DS. Englands getting colder. I am getting a new guitar. lets hope I can play it better than the old one. my lack of progress on the guitar is starting to affect the weather here.

all the best - Torrevieja again?

I love this time of year too.... even the misty moisty bits of it like today. Hopefully we'll have a couple of good sharp frosts that'll kill off the cold germs.

It's the stunning sunsets and rises that get me... and they come at a time when I can be awake and enjoy both!

Roll on the snow!
