Lulu was born this day (3rd November) in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1948.

Something to 'Shout' about?

Shambles,

I'd appreciate if you could mark non-folk birthdays by BS so that I don't have to open the threads to find only I am not interested. I love to read about folkmusicians even if I didn't know them before, but I don't care about pop singers or actors.

wolfgang.. you are a pitiful insignicicant ant

compared to the mighty Lulu..

what an amazing blues and soul voice [and folk ?]...

and getting better as she gets older..

but what a shame her talents have been mismanaged and wasted

like so many other lost misguided fine singers of her generation

Agreed GUEST. A strong voice indeed, piss poor material choice though.

Anyone who questions Lulu's credentials as a folk artist has not seen her 1970's TV version of Bob Dylan's Tambourine Man - complete with dancers and tamborines.

Happy birthday Lulu.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEE - L - you make me want to Shout.

She also recorded My Ain Folk - so she must be a folk singer then.

"Little treasures hidden here...
If you even just sort of like the Blues, you might need to own this disc. For my money, the best parts were the recent live recordings by Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck and Lulu. You will be stunned.!"

happy birthday Lulu

i'm still young and fit enough to volunteer my services as a willing toyboy..!!???

It looks like her credentials as a folk artist are as good as Dylan's then. Wouldn't want real "folk" getting contaminated by all that old stuff, would we?

LuLu was born in Lennox Castle Hospital which was at that time Stirlingshire but now has a Glasgow postcode. The hospital has now been demolished and is the site for Glasgow Celtics new training ground.
So there

Was it a psychiatric hospital when Marie Lawrie was born? It would explain a lot.......

Can't stand the lady. My wife has been told if I ever go into a coma to play Lulu through one speaker and Daniel O'Donnell through the other. If after 30 minutes I have not got up to switch both off, she can turn off life support.

Scotland gave the world Lulu and we gave Madonna to Scotland. Sounds like turnabout is fair play.

Not sure why Wolfgang opened the thread... (Villan)

Villan,

you just can't be as stupid as you come over in asking this question can you?.

I simply did open the thread because I didn't know what to expect. Only after opening the thread and doing a search I could be sure that I'd rather not have opened the thread.

If you know of a way to guess what to expect in a thread if the title doesn't give you enough information, please post it here. I might learn something.

If you don't know, then, as Shambles uses to say, why did you post "only" to pass judgement about a fellow poster?

Wolfgang

You either lie, Shambles, perhaps not only to us (we are used to that) but even to yourself, or you are much more stupid than I grant you to be.
