Dear All

This Monday, 13th November, we have Ray Bradfield as guest at Waltham Abbey Folk Club. Ray sings a mixture of material; trad., contemporary and self-penned, all accompanied on guitar.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club meets every Monday from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. at The Royal British Legion, Brooker Street, Waltham Abbey, Essex. Performers and audience are warmly welcomed.

We hope to see you there.

The website is here

To the club, you have to go
He's really rather good you know
A fiver, just
Won't send you bust
And pints are just two quid or so

Come down to the Legion
and have a pleasant time
the music is fantastic
and so's the beer and wine

Our tolerance will add as well
Towards the fine occasion
Though if you're talking through a song
Cut the conversation!

And we make allowance too
If you can or can't sing
Should drunkeness embolden you
Get up and do some dancing

The M25 tonight was jocker block.
My path to you was very blocked.
So I drove home.
All alone.
And washed my shirts and my socks.

Your shirts and socks may be nice and clean
But just reflect on what might have been
The evening was fab, the singing sublime
But you were immersed in suds and grime.

"Ohhhhh, the folk club at the Abbey of Waltham!
We should raise our voices in song and exalt 'em
For bringing such joy and happiness into our lives
And allowing those of us who are married to bring along our wives"
- Wm T. McGonagall, poet and tragedian, "Ode to the Folk Club of Waltham Abbey", 1889 (excerpt)
