Not the greatest musical instrument, but great fun to pick up and play. A, D, G strings sound ok. E a bit dull. I know that this is no suprise but are some strings better than others? |

Flat wound strings have a smooth sound like a standup bass and round wound have a noticably lounder, brighter tone. Perhaps someone who plays an acoustic bass guitar can discuss strings from different vendors. - Phil |

Elixir last a long time, but I've found Elite Phosphor Bronze best value for sustained attack, and cost about £15 a set. I struck up with this bass/strings in a festival session this summer, and received the comment from the other side of the room..."God, I thought someone had started up on a piano" |

Smile at the difference. I've done this for years with bass strings (both acoustic and electric) because they seem to be strong enough to survive the trauma. Strings for guitar and bouzouki I just change. |

They are phosphor bronze on a nylon core and quite the best I've played. I'm only on my first set so I can't tell you how long they last, but they haven't really deteriorated from the day I put them on and I'm playing a lot more bass these days. Thomasik-Infeld |
