31 Dec 06 - 11:41 PM (#1923721) Subject: Lyr Add: ARRGH! (pirate song by Woods Tea Company) From: Jim Dixon Here's my transcription from the sound file that Peace linked to. ARRGH! As sung by Woods Tea Company A health to the pirates bold seafaring. So we say and so we do. There's none set sail with finer bearing. Sailing on the ocean blue. CHORUS: "Arrgh!" says I, and "Aye!" says he. We'll stand on board as brother. We'll rule the sea, just you and me. Let the devil take another. Now Calico Jack wore stripèd trousers. So we say and so we do. They hung him up with his rabble-rousers. Sailing on the ocean blue. They all felt safe in Panama County. So we say and so we do. Till Henry Morgan claimed the bounty. Sailing on the ocean blue. Well, Blackbeard's men would test your mettle. So we say and so we do. Bad cess to them that meet the devil. Sailing on the ocean blue. Our golden days have long since ended. So we say and so we do. We're thrown in shackles, none defended. Sailing on the ocean blue. [Calico Jack, Henry Morgan, and Blackbeard were all real pirates, but I can't find any place called Panama County.] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcMhrR2JBqk |

As far as Panama County is concerned the pirate "safe haven" was Port Royal which I think was also referred to as Panama County. It was a safe haven until it was destroyed by a hurricane. Let's hope they were all good swimmers. |
