15 Feb 07 - 08:33 PM (#1969195) Subject: Tech: Post Editing From: GUEST,Nick Some may have noticed that I can neither spell, nor type. Many message boards have an option where one can edit a post after it has been put up. Mudcat it seems is not one of those, unless I am missing something. Is that on purpose? To prevent post banjo bashing shenanigans? Or is it a tech issue? I sure would like to be able to fix my typos when I notice them. Whack Fall The Day Nick |
15 Feb 07 - 08:47 PM (#1969204) Subject: RE: Tech: Post Edit From: wysiwyg Nick, Mudcat predates boards that use that the software that lets you do that kind of editing, and as a result we have a couple of thousand other, really cool features THEY don't have. We do have a "preview" function where you can see how your post will look and fix what needs fixing once you submit-- to the right of the SUBMIT MESSAGE button. If you make a bad typo, you can request help in the Help forum. Easier is just to fix it and submit a second, "duplicate" post. The site volunteers usually see these and knock out the first, assumed-to-have-been-corrected post. ~Susan |

15 Feb 07 - 11:15 PM (#1969330) Subject: RE: Tech: Post Edit From: Bill D Posts can be corrected by request (ask in the 'help' area')....if everyone were allowed unlimited correction privileges, it would be like "revise & extend" in the US congress, where what's printed often bears little resemblance to what was actually said. This way, folks can get real 'errors' fixed, but not claim they never CALLED Catspaw a BDM.... |
16 Feb 07 - 12:35 AM (#1969361) Subject: RE: Tech: Post Edit From: Joe Offer Hi, Nick - The best thing to do is click the "preview" box, and then you can edit until it's just right - and then uncheck the box and submit your message. If you made a mistake nonetheless, post a corrected message right under the incorrect one. The volunteers/clones are supposed to delete the earlier message when there's a repetition like that. -Joe- |
