Foe all of you David Bromberg fans out there I understand that he's just released his first new recording in about 17 years. And it's supposed to be a solo effort. The song list is as follows:

Try Me One More Time
Kind Hearted Woman
Big Road
It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry
Buck Dancer's Choice
I Belong to the Band
Moonshiner
Shake Sugaree
Hey Bub
Love Changing Blues
When First Unto This Country
Levee Camp Moan
Trying to Get Home
East Virginia
Windin' Boy
Lonesome Roving Wolves

I was able to see him twice back when he was touring in the 70's but he always had a band with him. I'll be looking forward to this solo recording. And I'm glad to see that a musician of his quality is getting out there again. Let's hope it's not another 17 years before he releases another one.

Oooooh! David Bromberg! Now there's a talent. I saw the David Bromberg Band twice at Cambridge (donkey's years ago, when you could still pick up tickets on the door - or should that be gate?). I remember him as an outstanding performer with an exceptionally good band.

I then bought his LP "How Late'll You Play Till", which covered a tremendous range of what we'd now call Americana. It was all there: great musicianship, soul, sensitivity, edge, great arrangements and a wicked sense of humour. Has that been released on CD? If so, please let me know.

It's good to hear the old bugger's still going!

As I recall he took a few years off to learn how to build violins/fiddles.

It is not that he took a few years "off", it is that he re-focused his life.   He continues to make exquiste violins at a shop in Delaware.   He returned to the stage a few years ago, often performing with his wife as the guitarist for the Angel Band, and this new CD is his first solo effort.

The CD is amazing. It is a folk CD and Bromberg has fun with it. As he says, he is not "showing off" on this recording, just having great fun with the songs.
