This is a bit of an experiment and it turned out to be a bit of fun to do. WHITE COCKADE is the song - I found the traditional lyrics years ago in a book called, 1000 Years of Irish Poetry. It had been translated from the Irish in the late 1700's. I know that others have put the same lyric to music, too - they beat me to it, a few hundred years ago ... but I was having fun with the meter and the melody. I put the clip up on Myspace and my website, for promo purposes - but I hope it has some music merit as well; so I am letting my Mudcat friends know about it too. I did show a couple of y'all the early version of this vid. The one above is the finished version (such as it is). |

And the music he sets this old poem to is very unique. I have worn out my copy of 1000 Years of Irish Poetry. It is nice to see it back in print. All the best, Mick |
