14 Mar 07 - 06:11 AM (#1996148) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: The Fooles Troupe Between 12 Mar 07 - 06:47 PM & 13 Mar 07 - 11:39 AM I posted a rather lengthy informative post with some information that should have been helpful for Zany Mouse - Immediately after posting, it showed up as there - now it has vanished. While some paranoid individuals might think that somebody deleted it, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt and think that Mudcat has a serious technical problem of losing random posts - something to do with backups failing possibly. I have noticed it happening quite a bit recently to my posts. If it has 'taken' on the immediate playback - i.e. showing the thread at the top of the list, and most especially if the post appears when I reopen the thread, I usually delete my backup copy of what I have typed in. Either way, I'm not going to waste my time retyping it - if Zany Mouse wants any useful help to improve the amount of money she can get for her instrument, she can PM me. Robin |
14 Mar 07 - 06:28 AM (#1996156) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Scrump Foolestroupe: I've commented a few times that "Mudcat has eaten my posts" - it's happened to me too. At first I thought it was finger trouble on my part, but I'm now convinced that occasionally, my posts get lost somehow. I did wonder if they were being deleted by the Mudcat Police, but the content wasn't particularly controversial, AFAICT. |
14 Mar 07 - 12:07 PM (#1996503) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Zany Mouse Hi. I would certainly welcome some helpful suggestions on this, Foolstroupe, so PLEASE PM me or repost. Many thanks Rhiannon |

14 Mar 07 - 01:56 PM (#1996623) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Stilly River Sage I think the trick on posts getting eaten is to immediately look to see if the thread moved to the top of the page. Sometimes they just refuse to register the remark, even though it let you appear to send it. I try to check, and if this happens, I can usually back up a few screens, capture the text from the former text box, then open a new browser window and posting the remark in the new text box seems to take care of that. Back to the topic at hand. . . (I thought Gargoyle was just being funny on his remarks this time--at least, that was my response) SRS |
14 Mar 07 - 04:45 PM (#1996830) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Zany Mouse Lester: Ah yes, it is indeed Nils Neilsen. Duh!! SRS: Yes, I realised. Lots of 'watchers' on it although no bids as yet. Rhiannon |
14 Mar 07 - 05:00 PM (#1996840) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: The Fooles Troupe Well, ZM, briefly, Experienced Piano accordion people tend to wince if a P/A is pictured anyway other than standing on its feet - additional photos are acceptable in other positions, but if only the one picture of it on its side, then they are wary that the instrument has been stored incorrectly (not on its 'feet' under the bass button side!) and will require expensive replacement of the valves at the very least. You mention that it has already has 'surgery', so 'valve surgery' already would be suspected anyway, which reinforces a low opinion of the instrument. If stored correctly, on its feet, and in a cool dry place, they mostly just don't noticeably deteriorate very much at all. The box will tend to sound bad if the valves are wonky, reducing its value. This can also cause suspicion of other problems masked by the valve problem. I can;t remember the other comments at the moment just went onto jury selection panel yesterday, and spent ages walking around - a degree of tiredness and soreness today... :-) |
17 Mar 07 - 02:29 PM (#1999600) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Zany Mouse Thanks ever so much for the advice and I've certainly taken it on board. Sadly I can't amend the picture for some reason but I have added to the description addressing what you say. Again, many thanks for taking the time and trouble to set this out. Incidentally at the time of typing this it has had 146 hits and there are 14 watchers, so I THINK it will sell. Rhiannon |
17 Mar 07 - 07:21 PM (#1999780) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: The Fooles Troupe After having slept for a few days with lots of painkillers (to deal with the shin splints!) and other things - I remember a few other tips. Usually when selling (although the photo there is clear enough to see these and you have covered the rest) it is best to state 1) number of keys on the keyboard eg 41 keys (didn't count yours!) 2) number of bass buttons eg 12 3) number of treble and bass registers - in your case - nil of each This makes it look like what you are talking about.... :-) 4) any 'special things' about the instrument - this can be many things, but sometimes it can include special register arrangements - not all boxes are 'standard' - in this case, there doesn't look like anything, such as 'chin masters', 'wrist masters', etc. If there are a lot of 'register switches', especially if the bass has more than 2 - it can be helpful to give a closeup photos of such things, or else you'll just be asked for more info by those who know what they are looking for. If you state all this up front, people don't need to ask questions. I suspect a big flurry of bidding in the last few minutes, by those who are 'collectors' or those hoping to buy it cheap to resell it. I'd say your price is about right. |
18 Mar 07 - 07:02 AM (#2000047) Subject: RE: Piano accordion on ebay From: Zany Mouse Thanks again, Foolstroupe. Sadly I can't alter anything now as there is a bid on it. Thanks for all the help and thought you have put into your advice. Good luck with the pain control. Have you asked your doctor for pain patches? I wear one now and the change is tremendous.
