and can anyone help me with figuring out copyright information on this..originally from wikimedia commons but they go off track sometimes. it is in russian. i do not know if it is a picture from real circumstances or if it was from an old movie.

i am also looking for art for the cd...front cover should be in color, have at least a couple of people and lots of logs..do not have to be in a jam..theme is getting logs down or up rivers or water somehow...could be an easy float job. back should also be in color bu will have lots of writing so should not have faces to be written over and shouldn't obscure the writing.

there will be a lot of standards..river in the pines..jack haggerty, jam on gerry's rock, les raftsmen, the great big sea one, log driver's waltz, badger drive, tickle cove pond, nellie was a lady, another african american one yet to be determined..a couple of local ones i wrote, lost jimmy whalen, couple of more obscure ones from new england, volga boatmen, a polish one...a couple of commissioned ones from washington and idaho...

thanks. i should have made it very clear there can be no copyright issues at all on this. life is too short and getting shorter for me to deal with copyrights and naturally if anyone wants any songs i have come up with they are yours...

You probably checked this out already - but I would assume that Logdriver's Waltz, by Wade Hemseworth, is registered somewhere (SOCAN?).

Also, I don't what Great Big Sea song you're doing, but many of their arrangements of trad. songs are quite distinctive - not to say, idiosyncratic - and may well be registered.

Maybe if you just ask on this forum, you'll find out.

I run all songs through licensing agencies. Glad to pay for wbat someone wrote but not for trad songs that people appropriated.
