The thread on Ash Wednesday and Lent got me thinking. Oscar Brand, for all his bawdy reputation, also used to do gigs at church camps back in the '60's or thereabouts. A friend of mine saw him at camp as a kid and was quite surprised to find out about his less than theological side when he (my friend) discovered the folk scene. Did he ever make a recording of non bawdy/religious songs? I've never seen one mentioned anywhere. I remember hearing one at Fox Hollow:

Jesus did say,"My time it is come.
I will take Passover with my disciples.
Therefore go forth, Peter and John,
Go and make ready for me."

And as they sat, Jesus took wine,
Gave it to them, and they all drank of it.
And as they drank, Jesus took bread
Brake it and blessed it and said,

(chorus)

"Take, eat, this is my body.
Take, drink, this is my blood
I will drink no more the fruit of the vine
Till I drink in the kingdom of God"

Beautiful stuff, I'd love to hear more.

(from dick greenhaus)

Don't know of anything recorded. Does anyone recall a cowboy-type song he sang a half-century or so ago, to the melody of Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring, that wound up:

"...And I'll meet you tonight at the old Bach chorale.."?

Mind you, he can take Bach as far as I'm concerned!!
