Subject: Alabama Bound - the other one From: GUEST,Don Date: 18 Oct 01 - 10:54 AM Reading the thread on "Alabama Jubilee" made me think of a song called "Alabama Bound". There is a song by that name in the DT, attributed to Leadbelly (I think I have it on a recording by Doc Watson.) But I'm thinking of a different song. I believe it starts something like "I'm Alabama bound, don't want no heebie-jeebies hangin' around ..." and there is also a line about "I'll put my tootsies in an upper berth." Anyone have it? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Alabama Bound - the other one From: fat B****rd Date: 18 Oct 01 - 02:44 PM This sounds like the sort of song sung whilst waving a straw boater about. The tune I recall is up tempo and usually called "Alabammy Bound". Not the Leadbelly one, of course. Sorry not to have been more help. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Alabama Bound - the other one From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 22 Oct 01 - 06:05 PM Thanks for bringing back some memories... I'd forgotten all about this song. While it's not Alabama related, I have a great love for Sailing Down To Chesapeake Bay. Don't know if anyone else is a big Clancy Hayes, Bob Scobey fan, but they recorded many songs of this type. Ocean Roll is another great one.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Alabama Bound - the other one From: Mudlark Date: 23 Oct 01 - 01:38 AM Hi Don... It's a great song, much fun to sing, rollicking and room for a BIG FINISH! I first heard it in The Purple Rose of Cairo and couldn't leave it alone until I;d worked out all the chords. |
