Hi - using the Forum "filter" for beer I found this thread: beer. This is considered a Sacred Song in Southeastern Wisconsin, where I come from.

Actually, I prefer my beer unfiltered, but any brew will do in a pinch.

There is a roadhouse in Sonoma County called "Little Switzerland". Every Sunday, people who enjoy Bavarian-style music and polkas have been gathering there for at least 25 years that I know about from talking to people who have been going there that long. The shaded bier-garten outside is a very comfortable spot to rest and talk in between sessions of whirling about to traditional middle-European tunes. on the walls are Bavarian style paintings including the illustrated German Lyrincs to "In Heaven There is no Beer".

THis afternoon I posted a description of a place here in Sonoma CO. CA called Little Switzerland. I just noticed something odd when I checked this thread a few minutes ago. There is a "blue clicky" on Little Switzerland that I did not put there. "How amazing", I thought, "even Little Switzerland" has a website and some Mudcat Web Watcher was kind enough to add the link." I followed the pointer though and found myself taken to some sort of Educational School site that I have never heard of. Is this a weird happenening, a mistake, or mischief?

One las t thing, when I got to the site, I couldn't get back to Mudcat without having to break the connection and log onto Mudcat again.

I plead guilty, Sourdough. I sometimes come across URLs that relate to things posted in the forum, so I'll occasionally sneak in a clickable link like that. I found the link in question at a Sonoma County Website. Unfortunately, I was having Internet problems this afternoon, and was unable to check out the link to make sure it worked.
I fixed the link this evening, and you'll see that Little Switzerland (click) has a very nice Website. Guess I'll have to stop in and check it out.

Don't know the tune, but the title bears a striking resemblance to a Yankovich tune "In heaven there IS no Beer." Apparently, the Polish dislike double-negatives as much as I do ; )

This was a radio hit briefly in the late 1970s. Our high school marching band played it during the 3rd quarter break at football games, with a twist: they simultaneously played the theme from Hogan's Heroes, as if one were the harmony and the other melody. The two work together frighteningly well, and it's fun!

In Danbury, Wisconsin, they have a German-style beer/polka/bratwurst festival every August.

They used to call it "Augtoberfest"—which I thought was clever—but I notice lately they have switched to "Octoberfest."
