I think there are at least 3 different songs about "Banks of the Lee" /"Banks of the Lea" (the River Lee in Cork, Ireland) already covered in Mudcat. The one I seek is different.

I have it on an old LP by Ann and Francie Brolly, but the record is old and scratched and I don't want to do more damage repeatedly playing the track. The tune is the same lovely air used for "Ba Loinnireach Grian an Tráthnóna", which I understand is Thomas Moore's "Has Sorrow Thy Young Days Shaded"

          Sorry I can't help with the song directly, but when I had a similar problem I
   put the song from the record onto my computer, (the process has been described here
   several times, notably by McGrath), and then as a WAV file or whatever, you can listen
   through headphones as many times as necessary.

There are a number of "Banks of the Lee" songs in older songbooks. Some are "Spirit of the Nation" or Young Ireland vintage, others more recent. Yours sounds fairly recent - maybe Irish-American?

Thre's at least one local COrk songbook with possibilities - I'll have a look in ITMA next time I'm in Dublin, if nothing turns up here before then
