Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Rising of the Moon From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 07 Oct 03 - 02:53 AM so it's also not the eco-warrior song to the same tune as "Come tell me Seán O'Farrell ..." song you've already been referred to - recorded by Seán Tyrell. I could've gotten you that one. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Rising of the Moon From: John MacKenzie Date: 07 Oct 03 - 04:50 AM Oh Paddy dear and did you hear the awful news they say Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon they have joined the IRA They're drilling in the mountains to the sounds of fife and drum Yon Tony's taking snapshots, while young Maggie fires a gun. Part of an ill remebered parody from 30 years ago. Giok |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Rising of the Moon From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 07 Oct 03 - 10:20 AM Thirty seconds at Google locates the following: Kate Wolf: Rising of the Moon It's a pdf file, so you will need Acrobat to read it. It has absolutely nothing to do with the "rebel" song that happens to be one of many that share the title. |

Subject: ADD: The Rising of the Moon (Kate Wolf) From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Oct 03 - 12:25 PM Here's a transcription from the link Malcolm posted. The song is in Kate's "Revisited" songbook. It's on her The Wind Blows Wild CD. Wish I could remember where I put mu Kate Wolf CD's, so I could actually listen to it. -Joe Offer- RISING OF THE MOON (Kate Wolf) The rising of the moon on the Oregon borderline Lights up the river's edge and the wild blackberry vine And the sand beneath my feet is a cool silver grey The moon dances on the water, and then it sails away
Some love lasts forever, just like the river flows We were riding down a river, the wind blowing from behind There were two great blue herons flying through the trees Moving up the canyon, so silent and free
Some love lasts forever, just like the river flows And that life won't treat you badly; I'd like to see you when you're old I'll keep you in my heart like the crying of the loon And wonder how you are at the rising of the moon
Some love lasts forever, just like the river flows The song gives me pictures of places I've seen so often here in Northern California. She really captures the wonder of this place. Now that I live in the Sierra foothills, I realize that I can't think of any good Kate Wolf Sierra songs. She lived nearer to the coast - maybe that's why. |
