GAMBLER, WHERE WAS YOU?

Gambler, where was you when they called your name,
Called your name, called your name?
Gambler, where was you when they called your name,
Called your name, called your name?
Gambler, where was you when they called your name?
You waited one day too late, one day too late.

Liar, where was you when they called your name, etc.

Drunkard, where was you when they called your name, etc.

Backslider, where was you when they called your name, etc.

Oh, where was you when they called your name, etc.

Wade (Monkey) Bolden, Ramsey State Farm, Otey, Texas.

"Links" in the banner at the top of every Mudcat page. Lomax is in there somewhere.

It's a collection at the Library of Congress, here:

From there you can search by song title, and there will probably be a sound file so you can hear it sung, along with info on who the Lomaxes collected it from. Look around there-- there are also field notes accessible.
