...wish to hell that I knew about this earlier - my wife and I were in Luckenbach, Texas on Sunday with over two-thousand of our closest friends and we would have run out of ink before we ran out of signers.

If, and when, the Straits, Chesneys, Harris', Haggards, Jacksons, Hills, Keiths, Partons and a slew of the top charting country bands become interested and make this thing the "dead skunk in the middle of the road," why - it'll get cleaned up. I appreciate Hank's achievements and contributions as much as anyone, but this strikes me as an exercise in absurdity. He was fired, and all the wishing in the world won't change that fact. How do you rehire a corpse?

This Rolling Stone article from last year gives sense of why this is being pursued--Hank Williams III in Rolling Stone basically it is that the Grand Ol Opry continues to exploit Hank Sr.'s connection with the Opry--

The 'Opry'--a name that has made me want to gag for decades--will use what it can to promote itself. No point discussing morals in a whore house.

Yeah, M. Ted,
I probably woudn't give the Opry a second thought re Hank's "membership" except that they do love to USE his songs and image whenever it suits their purpose.
