Well, I was searching youtube for some Kate Wolf tunes...her voice always melts my heart...and soothes it when it needs soothing. Anyway I came across a video of Mark Ross on a radio program with Kate Wolf...and i was wondering if it was our Mark Ross....just for curiosity sake, yeah?

That was a smashing performance. I hope it really was our Mark Ross of Mudcat. I liked the way both performers radiated warmth and fun.

That is a much younger version of THE Mark Ross of Mudcat fame.

I don't remember a camera being in the studio that night. That was 1975 when I was staying at Kate's house, living in the shed. They had a bed, a dresser with a mirror, and for some reason, a bumper pool table for furnishings, and a sign over the door that read,"Hobo's Heaven".
Someone called me last year to ask me about that video(which I hadn't seen at the time). When I was at Katestock (aka the Kate Wolfe Memorial Festival) last year I asked around and noone knew anything about it. Then, lo and behold it shows up on YouTube! Ah, the miracles of modern technology.

What a treat that video is! Mark Ross playing a hot banjo with a great song and having as host one of my all-time favourite singer-songwriters, one with the voice of an angel, alas, gone far too soon.

and he dressed in his radio best, too!

I miss the Toledo Folk Fest where we have played for the last few years, Mark!

so that radio station was in Santa Rosa, not in Berkeley where she
had a show on KPFA later...

and that was (more than) a few years back...
he knows his way around a lot more than that now...
