Subject: Josh White's St. James Infirmary From: GUEST,Uncle Fred Wilson Date: 27 Nov 05 - 04:44 PM Suzanne recently got inspired to work up St. James Infirmary. We were talking about various lyrics and I remembered a verse which included, "She treated me mean and evil, somehow I didn't care, she was all I ever had to live for, I hope we meet again somewhere." I know somebody used that line, I didn't make it up. I can hear back in my 1945 model brain, Josh White singing that verse. But, alas, I've found recordings of him doing St.James, but not that verse. If anybody remembers that verse, I just want to know, I'm pretty sure I didn't dream it. Fred |
