Go where you will by day or night, the town or country through You'll hear the people crying out, "What the Devil do they mean tae do?" ch. Oh since oor Parlianent is mnet They tax its more and more, We never had such taxes In auld Scotland before. They're going tae tax the fairmer, his horses, cairts and ploughs; They're going tae tax the billy goats, the donkeys, pigs and cows; They're going tae tax the mutton and they're going tae tax the beef, And they'll double tax auld women if they haven't got good teeth. They're going tae tax the bugs and fleas, the clothes that keep us warm; They're going tae tax the children a month before they're born.
