Roger in Baltimore BS: How Did You Meet Your Wife/Husband? (84* d) RE: BS: How Did You Meet Your Wife/Husband? 20 Jul 05

I met Marge (wife number two) at an outdoors open mike. As I came off the stage and headed for my seat, she stopped me, said she liked a particular song, and asked if I had a CD. I told her no, but I would tape the song for her if she sent me a cassette. I gave her my card and we talked awhile. She asked me, "Do you know 'I Want to be Seduced?" I said I was familiar with the song by Leon Redbone, but I had never tried to play it.

We parted and on the way home, I kicked myself (difficult to do while driving) for not getting her name, phone number or address. However, two days later, a blank cassette arrived in the mail with a return address. I called her up and asked to meet her at a local festival. She agreed. Two days later she called to say she had a part-time job that was calling her into work and she couldn't meet me. We chatted. I told her I was going to see some friends give a performance at a park that night. She asked, "Is that an invitation?" I told her it could be and we went off to the park.

We went out together many times, but she was not very warm. She resisted all of my attempts to get romantic. We were just being good friends. Finally, one evening she said that she enjoyed her time with me, but there was no 'spark'. I called my best friend that night and told him I had enough friends who were females, I was looking for a lover. We had another date scheduled. When I met her that evening, we went to another outdoor concert (it was summertime). As we sat and listened, her hand slowly reached over and firmly attached itself to mine. Some where some how, the lady changed her mind. There have been lots of sparks since then; we have been together 12 years and married for the last 5. I'm looking forward to the next 12 years.
