Caroline and I lived in a small town in Chittenden County for six years (Huntington, for those of you who know the area). When we moved down to northwestern Connecticut 33 years ago, I thought I was moving to the tropics. There have been many winters since when I have wished we had! I shudder at the thought of playing around in snow. Snow is nice to look at through the window while sitting in front of a blazing fireplace, reading a good book. (In which segment of the societal strata does that place me, Susan A-R?) Of course, my antiquity seems to make me feel the cold a little more each winter.
Seriously, though, Burlington is a splendid city, small enough to be comfortable and large enough to be interesting. Many events for the culture-vultures, and a delightful use of Church Street during the temperate months. The small towns surrounding Burlington are charming, and easily accessible. Even Huntington is becoming gentrified, I'm told. Actually has an Audubon Center now!
