Twenty plus years ago, I heard this song on a Washington Radio station. They had a noon time folk show that was eventually cut and replaced by Bluegrass (typical for DC). The singer/songsriter was a woman from Canada. She sang it a capella. Only song I ever learned in one hearing. The repetition helped. I started a thread years ago on the Cat, but never received a reply.

I still sing the song on Fathers' Day (with some lyric changes) and would love to give credit where credit is due.

Overweight and turning gray. Happy, happy Mothers' Day (2)

Was it worth it? I don't know; really isn't much to show. (2)

Except two little human beings, sweeter than my wildest dreams. (2)

As stated below, the songwriter is Ginny Reilly, of Reilly and Maloney.
