My sympathy goes out to you. I truly enjoyed sitting next to you at Barry's house, both your music and your conversation. It is hard to imagine the loss. Recently I pondered (for no known reason) what choice I would make if I had to choose between my music and my wife. My wife came out first (finally), but I knew I would be unhappy camper without my music. It nourishes many parts of my spirit.

In your shoes, I would be trying to think of alternatives. One that comes to mind is to gig at festivals where there are multiple acts contracting for the possibility that you may be unable to perform. Much like the "dual gig" mentioned above, it allows the show to go on even if you are not up to your part.
