Sandy Paton | Cecil Sharp Journal? (7) | RE: CECIL SHARP JOURNAL? | 28 Dec 98 |
Ian: You may want to read Maud Karpeles' Cecil Sharp, His Life and Work. As Liam's Brother suggests, you'll find a number of copies listed at various used-book shops if you go to Bookfinder. Maud was the woman who accompanied Cecil Sharp on his Appalachian collecting trips. She would take down the texts while Cecil wrote out the tunes. She describes their work together. |
