Ron Olesko just did an interview with Acie Cargill for his show, talking about Acie's grandmother's songs and ballads. A healthy sampling of these gems from his family tradition are presented on Folk-Legacy's "The Songs and Ballads of Hattie Mae Tyler Cargill" (CD-128), where they are sung by Debra Cowan, Susan Brown, and Acie himself. This CD has now been entered into the long list of submissions for a Grammy in the "traditional folk" category. If any of you know any voting members of NARAS, give 'em a bit of a nudge. A nomination would be a great boost for us.
I've met both Olesko and Hahn at various festivals, and they are truly devoted to good folk music, both traditional and contemporary. Let me second Deb's suggestion, then, and urge you to listen to their shows. They deserve our support.
