I never heard Jimmy Driftwood's version, Rick, but that ol' mouthbow made him rich and famous, didn't it, along with some neat songs? Too bad it didn't do the same for Howie Mitchell, who invented the fretted mouthbow (a parallel rod along the string, with a stop placed at the fourth and fifth intervals). Howie Mitchell, by the way, is the featured guest at the dulcimer gathering in Boone, NC, this summer. If any of you Mudcatters live in the area, you oughta go meet him. Sandy
