Well, he lied about the "little money" part. Nowadays, the flea markets have been scoured by the Antique dealers here in Maryland and those ceramic jugs will cost you a few ten dollar bills.

But yes, jugs can be made of many different materials. There are sonic differences, but the overall effect will be, "Hey, they're playing a jug!"

Certainly was a treat to me.
