Roger in Baltimore Gives up (97* d) RE: Gives up 15 Jul 99

Welcome back, Dan'l,

It seems you felt sort of "left out." I can certainly understand the feeling. The more I read this site, the more I wanted to be a part. So I began to "imitate" those Mudcatter's he had an approach I liked. I would do what they did when I could. I learned some HTML so I could create active links and add some pizzazz to my posts.

I have a Mudcat category on my bookmarks of places to go to look up lyrics. I actively use OLGA.net and Roughstock.com (COWPIE) just to help out others on the Mudcat, seldom for my own requests.

I participated in "opinion" (BS?) threads where I learned to be less sarcastic with newcomers who didn't follow "the rules". I have a pretty big ego, so I saw "rules" where there weren't rules, and I helped to enforce them.

I became a better Mudcatter in the process and the Mudcat became better because I participated (I don't think that's ego, it's true for all who post).

So just jump on in. If you don't like the chat room, don't go there. I tried it for a while and was not enthused by it. Now my computer won't let me go there and since that's no big deal, I haven't pursued it further. Oh, sometimes I wonder about it when others refer to it, but that's a much in this world about which I wonder and will never know.

Again, Dan'l, welcome. You helped us to look at ourselves and that is always worthwhile (as long as we don't get engrossed in the subject).

Big RiB aka Roger in Baltimore
