Rick,
When I was a veritable youth, I developed a strong dislike for beer. I used to go to Washington Square on hot Sunday afternoons and jam with folks and onlookers/listeners would supply us with cold drinks but I thought the beer tasted awful.
Later on, I got drafted into the army and wound up in Germany where the beer was delicious. It wasn't the environment, i.e., being around a bunch of soldiers. I just didn't like the stuff that gets passed off here as beer.
When I got back from Germany, I tried American beer again and had the same reaction as I'd had earlier. And it turned out that the European export beers that arrived here had to be doctored to meet our low American standards, so I quit again.
