Look at little Sally, she's in such a mess
scratched her pinky finger, got blood all on her dress
Momma looks down, gives young Sally grief
reaches in her purse and she grabs her handkerchief
Momma spit will cure it

Grabs her handkerchief and in her mouth it goes
she wipes off her finger and wipes off her clothes
Momma spit will clean it
Momma spit I mean it
Momma spit it cleaned it

Teenage Jenny, really got the blues
tarnish on the buckles of her shiny patent shoes
She yells out 'Momma give me some relief'
Momma comes a running and she grabs her handkerchief
Momma spit will cure it

Grabs her handkerchief and in her mouth it goes
she shines up the buckles and she shines up the toes
Momma spit will clean it
Momma spit I mean it
Momma spit it cleaned it

Papa's on the sofa alookin' at TV
Smudges on his glasses, he can hardly see
Momma looks up and gives Old Papa grief
Reaches in her apron and grabs her handkerchief
Momma spit will cure it

Grabs her handkerchief and in her mouth it goes
she wipes off his glasses and sticks 'em on his nose
Momma spit will clean it
Momma spit I mean it
Momma spit it cleaned it
