GUEST,CRANKY YANKEE What are 'davit tackles'? (28) RE: What are 'davit tackles'? 14 Aug 03

HAUL; Haul on the rope that you pull to lift something

OVERHAUL; pull the blocks apart so as to lower something..      Usually the tackle (pronounced: TAKE-UHL) overhauls itself if there is any appreciable load on it.

It'd a good idea to shout, BRAVE BOYS, rather than sing it as written. except on the verse, To lose that whale our captsin said, etc

then on the verse, GREENLAND IS A DREADFUL PLACE, slsow to a crawl and gradually build up the tempo and when you reach, "Brave Boys", shoput as previous.

This is the way I sing it anyway, It maakes for a more interesting song That will catch the audiences attention, if they are noisy.

Captain is pronounced, CAPTING, if you want an old Yankee sailor accent, like Popeyes.(The Max Fleischman productions only)
