The original title by Martini (Jean Paul Egide Schwarzendorf) was "La Romance du chevrier."
Nana Mouskouri recorded it in 1972 (The British Concert, Fontana) and later (1980, 1989 vol. 1 of her "Classical" albums).
This website lists some of the recordings made of the song, from 1927 (Armand Gauthier), Joan Baez (1968) Brigitte Bardot (1971), Marianne Faithfull (1974):
