Got back from Fylde last night - tired, exhausted but very happy. Had a great time, cried through the 'Meet Eric Bogle' session, laughed hysterically at Les Barker and the Mrs Akroyd Band + Quest the Labrador Guide Dog (who joined in with Spencer's Dog Rover!) but had to leave during the Dougie MacLean final gig! We too enjoyed Cloudstreet and found them to be warm and friendly people as well as great performers. That's them really famous now with multiple mentions on Mudcat!!
We were at the Steamer singaround with Quartz and the Mount with Hugh Diamond also made the second half of the Friday Sing in the Festival in the new bar at the Steamer. We spent the first half watching Pete Coe.
There was so much to do, see and hear that it was difficult at times to pick and choose. All in all it was a briiliant festival. We, not being camping types, opted for B&B a few miles down the road. The weather was fantastic and the dancers were all out in colourful force on the Saturday in the Marine Gardens and surrounding areas.
My thanks to the organisers etc but in particular to Karen and Ian at the Holistic Medicine stall in the Craft Fair for the superb Indian Head Massages and the foot rubs! An oasis in the desert. During one of my massage treatments my 'better half' sneaked off and bought himself a Bodhran and took himself off to the workshop - ah well there was method in his madness eh??
The highlight for me at Fylde was Eric Bogle. Sorry if we passed you all by - we did try to say hello to familiar faces - ColK and greeted all we saw wearing 'cat T'shirts. We're getting ready to try for Swanage but definitely for Bedworth (booked up already!) which should also be a great festival - see you there folks?
