Kathy - the song you are looking for is called JOHNNY REB, THAT'S ME, written by Willis S. Graham. Eddy Arnold recorded it on his 1959 album THEREBY HANGS A TALE. This album as been re-issued on a Bear Family CD as a double album along with CATTLE CALL. It is a very haunting rendition.
