I broke down and put the new boat in the water today. She's a 15'6" touring canoe, built from scratch with shrink fitted aircraft dacron decks [that's terylene to you Brits]. In a few days, when the rudder is complete, she'll go sailing into Jamaica Bay. The weather was so nice, I couldn't resist taking her for a paddle to see how she would go. Very stable, and she left no appreciable stern wake. Quite comfortable and shipped no water except drip from the double paddle. I still have to create a cockpit coaming but I just could not wait any longer. [The guy who began DAMFINO 12 years ago died and left her to me to do about 90% of the work to complete her.] If anyone has the itch to build a beautiful boat, PM me and I shall be pleased to send you the building molds and the single drawing that goes with it. The boat can be any length you wish. All you have to do is change the spacing of the molds. A photo of today's launching will be posted when I get it from a friend.
