Do not forget that The Shellback Chorus sing Maritime and Shanties. Very few of the women actually sing Shanties, mainly songs to do with the sea. Theresa is an exception and I defy anyone to deny her the right! A fearsome little lady! Loads of men sing women's songs and loads of people who have never been down a mine, sing mining songs, plenty of landlubbers sing sea songs and at least the songs are being sung! I have avoided singing Shanties (except choruses) for the last 30 years, except Lowlands, abotu which there has long been arguments, but I am going to start this winter!
