Semper - The Gainsborough Folk Club (or as we foul-mouthed locals like to refer to it "Folk 'n' Good Ale"!) is at the Eight Jolly Brewers pub in the Town Centre (overlooks the River Trent and Whitton Gardens) every other Friday, the next club night being Friday, 3rd October. You can check out the Folk gigs in the Lincolnshire/E. Yorkshire area on the 'Folktalk' website at http://www.folktalk.co.uk (sorry, don't know how to do a blue clicky). For Doncaster, go to 'Folk 4 Donny' at http://www.folk4donny.freeserve.co.uk. The club happens on the first Saturday of the month and is mostly concert-format (although there are floor-spots available by prior arrangement). Nice room and very friendly crowd. You might even see me there. The Scunny club died long ago but there's an acoustic club, 'Routes To Music' at the Berkeley Hotel on the third Sunday in each month. It's mainly local talent, arrive by 8 p.m. to book a spot. Any type of acoustic music is acceptable, not just folk. Again, nice room and the natives are friendly (even towards Gainsbronians!). Johnny
