I learned this song in the late 60's from a Scots friend and his last verse was as Bugsy's except that the first line was: If my true love should prove false I might have learned more if he didn't tend to lapse into Gaelic half way down the bottle of Glenmorangie (he is from Easter Ross) Now we're both in semi-respectable middle age our respective spouses keep us under some control!
