Its been reported this week that professor Colin Blakemore, who is head of the Medical Research Council in Britain, has been passed over in the new years honours list, because of his controversial work on vivisection. He has been harping on about this in the press, and threatening to resign his post. I say good. The man should be sacked, prosecuted for cruelty to animals and put away for a number of years. In case anyone is not aware, a few years ago he published scientific papers of his experiments in which healthy kittens were blinded, supposedly in research of sightlessness. It is common sense, that you will not make sick humans healthy, by making healthy animals sick. Hippocrates said this a long time ago with the maxim 'First, do no harm'. I'm sure by starting this thread, there will be a lot of debate, so for now, I'll also quote George Bernard Shaw on the matter 'Those who do not hesistate to vivisect, will not hesitate to lie about it.'
