I found the 1960 Life Magazine Article. There were two songs: The Ballad of Joe Hilderbrand was copyrighted 1960 by Unirrock-Tree Publishing Companies, and it's got A and E7 chords, and these lyrics: I hear the troopers comin' across the hilly land, I know they're out asearchin' for Joe Hilderbrand. The other is Run, Joe, Run Am Dm E Am E am Dm E7 Am "Run, Joe run-- Run, Joe, run-- Run down the hill-- Run thru the dale-- Run 'cause the law is on your trail." The Article is "The Birth of Ozark Ballads." Any ideas about how I can get this music? (Do I tell them this song was about some of my kinfolks or just keep that to myself????)
